Hi, I'm Chelsea! I’m on a mission to help you find joy and goodness in every day.
On this blog we talk about the big things (like chasing dreams) and the small things (like what books we're reading) because happiness comes in all sizes.
I’ve been feeling bleh this week. Not because of any one thing, but just a bunch of things catching up to me. Feeling like I’ve gotten absolutely nothing done, but feeling exhausted at the end of the day just the same.
The thing about having big dreams is they come with big to-do lists.
The thing about having big to-do lists is that they don’t replace the little to-do lists. Somebody still has to do the dishes. Pay the rent. Figure out something for dinner. Be responsible for any pets or tiny humans in your life. You know, the small things.
Big dreams are great. Big to-do lists are unavoidable. But we need to be proud of ourselves for the small things, too.
It’s possible to strive for more while also being proud of yourself for where you are.
None of this, “I did _____, but I’m working on _____.” NO. “I did ____.” Period. Your accomplishments, however small, are worth celebrating! Then we can celebrate what you’re working on. But the things you’ve already done? Those deserve recognition.
Did you get your toddler to school even though he chanted a steady stream of “No school, no school” from the time he woke up until he walked through the door? PROUD.
Did you remember to set the coffee before bed, so you woke up to a house smelling like maple pecan coffee? PROUD.
Did you drink so much water this week that your kidneys would totally send you a thank you card if they could? PROUD.
Did I just write a bunch of things about myself? IT IS POSSIBLE.
I hope you’re striving for more: Stronger, healthier, better, happier. But I also hope you’re proud of exactly where you are.
Where you are took work, and you did it. The small things you do every single day take work, and you do them. You deserve to chase after whatever it is you want in life. But you absolutely also deserve to be proud of all the small things that make up where you are today.

HAHAH omg picturing Jack chanting no school, so funny and SO REAL. I asked Aiden how his first day of preschool went, and he was like “not good!” (but then he DID proceed to tell me about fingerpainting and line-leading and tricycles, so like clearly if he starts the no school chant, I should feel ok about still dropping him off? HAHA).
Anyway, love this and all the practical-steps motivation you give!
He chanted it alllll the way there, and then continued to chant it to his teacher. it’s fine.
Hey getting the kids off to school is totally a huge thing! It’s no joke! All these little things adding up to life in general!
YOU GET ME!
Gosh, yes. My to do list before a trip EXPLODES and I always feel like I get nothing done… but last night I did (most of) the dishes and a few loads of laundry and I cleaned a bathroom. Which was only a small fraction of my list but WHATEVER. It’s done. Lol
Girl, you are a CHAMPION! And all bets are off before a trip haha!
Thank you for the reminder! Sometimes I feel like I HAVE to tick everything off my to-do list and when I don’t I get despondent.
But being proud of the small everyday things is such a good idea. Also it stops me having that ‘all or nothing’ way of thinking and makes achieving balance so much easier.
Gahh same girl. I can get 84 things done and if I had 85 on my list, I feel like crap. We’ve gotta celebrate the little stuff!!
Yesss! The small stuff totally counts, but dang, thank you for that reminder!! I’ve been wallowing for not having achieved the big stuff that I’ve forgotten I’m still functioning… But for reals though… Love the new look, friend!
girl, I’m right there with you! and thank you – I love it!!!
