Girl, you have a way with words. This was beautifully written! And I agree, I see people trying to hide parts of their beliefs to make themselves more accessible/seem cooler to others. It happens, unfortunately. But what a great reminder that we as individuals need to remember Christ and why we personally follow Him, and only Him. Great post. šŸ™‚

You're a really good writer! I truly enjoyed reading this article. I have to say though, that I'm not sure I understand exactly what it's saying… is it saying that believing in Jesus, believing in God and loving him with all our hearts and actions is not enough, but that we should also make sure to *tell* people if we are Christians? If that is the case, I have to say (just for the sake of sharing and conversation šŸ™‚ that I don't see it that way. I don't believe declaring myself part of a movement/religion/Christianity will make me more loving toward my neighbour or fellow human. I personally choose to keep that to myself *especially* if someone asks me if I'm Christian. I totally answer like that guy in the article!! haha! (just to be clear though, my intention for keeping it to myself is not to be cool, although I'm sure some people do it for that reason.) Sometimes I can be a better help to others if I keep certain things/choices to myself. I think I can be a bigger positive influence by following Jesus' teaching like loving unconditionally, etc. All that being said, it was a pretty cool article and I do appreciate someone who takes such a big stand and publishes an article about it, because really, even if Christianity has a bad reputation, it doesn't mean that people who follow Jesus are bad.

    • Hey Stephanie!

No, I don't think that's what he was saying. What I got out of that was that it's OKAY to call yourself a Christian. Meaning that you don't have to shy away from it, and it's not something you should be ashamed of, but rather proud of. I don't think it was his intention to imply that believing in God is not enough, but I think he was simply pointing out the flaws in something that has become a cultural norm–something people say without even thinking about.

That's what I got out of it! I always enjoy articles like this that make you think and bring up different perspectives. Thank you so much for your comment!

Chelsea, when I read the words, "Let's talk about loving Jesus," I instantly became a follower of your blog. Everything seems so folly in comparison to loving God and loving people. God has be wrecking my heart (in an amazing way) for people recently. It's so liberating and freeing knowing that we have a God who loves not because he HAS to, but because he WANTS to. It completely blows my mind. He is SO GOOD! Thank you for sharing this, I look forward to reading more!

    Take care,
    Katie

    • Katie, your comment encouraged me so much! You are so right, nothing else matters when looking at things in comparison. Thank you for your sweet words!
