Pep Talks
Hi, I'm Chelsea! I’m on a mission to help you find joy and goodness in every day.
On this blog we talk about the big things (like chasing dreams) and the small things (like what books we're reading) because happiness comes in all sizes.
If we were having coffee . . .
. . .We would discuss this imminent tropical storm / hurricane situation we’ve got going on. I was unaware there was even anything brewing until Friday night, when my friend got a notification on his phone that a state of emergency had been declared for the whole state of Florida. Cool.
. . .I’d tell you that I broke my favorite pumpkin mug out a few weeks ago when a gloomy, rainy day declared it was, in fact, the season. The amount of joy it brings me is borderline ridiculous. It really is the little things.
. . .I’d talk about how I’ve been practicing (what I now know is called) grounding in the mornings. Standing outside barefoot and talking some deep breaths. I saw a TikTok recommending it and decided to give it a go, and it’s so peaceful and, well, grounding.
. . .Speaking of TikTok, I’d tell you I saw a girl in a sweater dress and a switch flipped. Fall fashion inspo all day, which can be a littttttle trickier when you live in Florida. I’ve got my eye on a few things – you can see my fall fashion amazon links here.
. . .I’d tell you that first grade has been an abrupt introduction to the real world. It’s way more hands-on than kindergarten. Jack is so tired, I am so tired, and I’m pretty sure we are learning math together. It’s been a bigger transition than I expected, but I think we’re finally getting into a good space.
. . .I’d ask you to update me on all the things going on with you. We’d say we should totally catch up like this more often, but you know, life.

Stay safe! We just got the 1st outer band of rain, and got all the patio stuff moved inside. My heart goes out to the folks on the gulf coast, and hoping we all stay safe. And yikes to 1st grade – I’ve been thinking about how much kindergarten has been an adjustment. Woof 😛
UGH MATH
Grounding IS so…grounding. Just really also helps me bring my shoulders down from my ears. I love it. I’m glad you’re doing it. I want everyone to do it.
Hope you are safe & the storm didn’t upend your world too much <3 I can't imagine explaining to a kid that no, school is not optional and yes, it will likely get harder and harder. I expect serious pushback from my child. SIGH.
I need to try this grounding activity! It sounds like something I am in serious need of. 🙂
GIRLLLLL you and me both!
Hope you got through that storm okay! I know my uncle in Vero Beach had all his hurricane blinds up lol. Also, didn’t realize before but Jack is the same age as my little cousin! She just started kindergarten too. I think that’s about where my math skills begin and end so I don’t envy you LOL
girlllll my math skills ended approximately the second day of kindergarten and ooooh am I struggling haha
