Hi, I'm Chelsea! I’m on a mission to help you find joy and goodness in every day.
On this blog we talk about the big things (like chasing dreams) and the small things (like what books we're reading) because happiness comes in all sizes.
Today, my baby brother will become a dad. Which is like, so weird, considering that in my mind he is still definitely 12 years old. But anyway, no matter how old it makes me feel, today is the day. And it’s got me doing allllll the big picture thinking.
Because world has just felt so dark, you know? I typed a list of reasons why, but deleted it, because you’re here too, you know why.
But this new baby? He has no idea how dark the world has seemed lately.
This is the world he will learn in. The one he’ll fall in love in. The one he’ll become himself in. The one he’ll make traditions in, make friends who become family in, the one he’ll fail and get back up in.
All the good things about life, he’ll experience in this world.
Something about that just really resonated with me. Like, yes there’s a lot of crap. But the world is still turning. Life is still happening – new life, our life, all life.
And we can’t get so bogged down by the bad that we forget to live it.
No true fiasco ever began as a quest for mere adequacy. A motto of the British Special Service Air Force is, ‘Those who risk, win.’
A single green vine shoot is able to grow through cement.
The Pacific Nortwestern salmon beats itself bloody on its quest to travel hundreds of miles upstream against the current, with a single purpose.
Sex, of course.
But also… life.

Bogged down by the bad is easy. Living the length and width of it to all edges, taking all of it, is not. But we must! And what a good push to do so.
Happy Aunt day!
So strange to think we live in a dark world with a billion little lights like babies and family and adventure and love. I feel like all that light drives out the darkness when we remember to focus on it <3 Happy Day to your brother & family!
That quote is one of my favorites. Congrats to your brother!
Thanks, friend!!
